8 days flight-bus trip : Andalusia - Costa del Sol from Eindhoven or Amsterdam
Day-to-day program:
Day 1: Tuesday: Eindhoven – Málaga
From Eindhoven you fly with Transavia to Málaga on the Costa del Sol. Upon arrival at Málaga airport you will be welcomed by the driver, after which we will drive to our hotel in Fuengirola. Depending on the flight times, you can organize the rest of the day yourself. The day ends with a well-catered dinner at the hotel.
Day 2: Wednesday: Half day trip Mijas
Guests can use the morning to explore the hotel's surroundings. After lunchtime we drive to the beautiful 'white village' mijas. This typical Andalusian village is located on a rock plateau and is a real tourist attraction. Lovely white houses and lively narrow streets are built against the mountainside. The village is best known for its unique donkey taxis, small bull-arena, the old Arab wall, churches and the busy chapel Santuario de la Virgen de la Peña, the shrine of the patron saint of the village. After this visit we go back to our hotel.
Day 3: Thursday: Day off or Granada (see options to book)
This day you can organize entirely at your own discretion or if you have booked the extra day trip, you will go on an interesting trip to Granada (see options to book). Our guide will inform you about all the beauty of the region during the bus ride to Granada. In Granada, we take our guide for a walk through the Albaicin, the old quarter with steep and narrow streets, white houses with fragrant gardens and numerous sights. You will see the Plaza de San Nicolas with the beautiful world famous views of the Alhambra and the Sierra Nevada. Afterwards you have free time to see the city on your own or sit on a terrace with a drink and tapas. You can complete the visit to Granada with a visit to the impressive Citadel Alhambra. (see options to be booked). This is located 200 meters above the city on sabika hill. From the 11th century onwards, beautiful buildings and gardens were added to the complex by various rulers. Within the huge fortification walls and impressive towers of the Alcazaba you will find the Nasridian palaces with the beautiful Arabic architecture and decorations. In addition to the former royal residences around the Mirtenhof, the Christian monuments are also worthwhile, such as the Renaissance palace built by Charles V in the 16th century.
The Granada day trip or the Granada + Alhambra day trip must be booked upon booking this 8days tour. You can no longer buy an entrance ticket on site. The Visit Alhambra includes entrance, local guide and headset. UNESCO applies strict measures for the visit to the Alhambra. We will not receive the exact time allocated for your Alhambra reservation until shortly before departure. You will receive a voucher with the entrance time and extensive instructions for the visit to the Alhambra. It is possible that the visit to Alhambra takes place during the city walk Granada. Unfortunately, we have no influence on this and in that case there will be no refund for the city walk.
Day 4: Friday: Córdoba
We drive through a wonderful landscape of olive trees to Córdoba. Under the guidance of a friendly guide we will visit this beautiful city. The heart of Córdoba is formed by the old Jewish quarter with its narrow streets and whitewashed, flower-decorated houses. The twelve-century-old mosque Mezquita (entrance approx. € 11.50 p.p.) shows a mixture of architectural styles. Very special are the 850 columns of granite, jasper and marble, which carry the roof. The Torre del Alminar is 93 meters high and can be climbed. The Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos in Córdoba is also worth a visit.
Day 5: Saturday: Ronda
Just after passing Marbella, begins the bizarre mountain world of Andalusia. With a guide we visit one of the most beautiful and oldest towns in Spain, Ronda. The town is spectacularly located on a 165 meter high rock plateau and is split in two by a deep gorge. The Puente Nuevo bridge connects the old and new part. Worth seeing are the city palaces, the Arab bathing complex, the bull-arena and the church on the beautiful square with palms and laurel trees.
Day 6: Sunday: Day off or Gibraltar (see options to book)
Today you have one more day to spend freely or if you have booked the extra day trip, you will go to tax-free Gibraltar, which has been covered by Great Britain since 1713 (see options to book). The rock was assigned to England 'forever' in 1713 at the Treaty of Utrecht. On the slope of the rock is the Moorish castle from the 8th century, of which the donjon is still a prison. A hospital was located in St. Michael's Cave during World War II. You can take a cable car up the mountain (cost around £16.00 p.p.). Here, in addition to the beautiful view, you will see the famous tailless berber monkeys. You can also take a tour of Gibraltar by van (rock tour costs not included). From Gibraltar Rock you have a nice view over Gibraltar and the Costa del Sol. Don't forget to bring your passport today!
Day 7: Monday: Half day trip Málaga
Málaga has a beautiful historic and car-free center. We're going here half a day today. Wandering through the narrow streets you will pass various sight such as the Roman theatre, the Gibralfaro castle, the Moorish fortress Alcazaba and the cathedral. Calle Marques de Larios is Málaga's famous shopping street. It is surrounded by stately buildings and opens onto the pretty Plaza de Constitución square. You'll have plenty of time here to explore the city or do your last holiday shopping.
