Tuesday: Southern Germany (or Austria) - Chianciano Terme

Through the beautiful mountain scenery of the Austrian Alps, the Dolomites and the Apennines we drive to our hotel in Chianciano Terme, where we will stay for the next seven nights.

Wednesday: Montepulciano and Pienza

After a late breakfast we start our day trip in the nearby Montepulciano. This beautiful medieval town is best known for its beautiful palazzi, delicious wine and its location on a narrow ridge. Then we drive to Pienza, which owes its name to Pope Pius II, who during the 15th century conceived the plan to build the ideal city. You have the opportunity to attend a tasting in a real fattoria. Then we drive back to our hotel via a beautiful route.

Thursday: Florence

Today, under the guidance of a Dutch-speaking guide, we get to know the art city of Florence extensively. First of all, we drive to the strategic point Piazzale Michelangelo, from where you have a magnificent view of the city. Afterwards you will walk through the historic center, where you can admire the most important sights, such as the Cathedral with the huge dome, the Baptistery with its beautiful mosaics, Piazza della Signoria and Ponte Vecchio, the oldest bridge over the Arno. In the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to explore Florence on your own.

Friday: Rome

This day is entirely dedicated to ancient Rome, a city where one civilization was built over another. Today, we will visit this city. Rome has the most beautiful buildings and monuments, such as Vatican city with the beautiful St. Peter's Square and St. Peter's, the largest church in Christianity. The Colosseum and Trevi Fountain are also world famous. Led by a guide, we make an interesting walk along a number of famous sights, so that you have a good impression when you leave Rome again.

Saturday: Assisi and Perugia

Today we first visit Assisi, the birthplace of Saint Francis, who is buried here under the basilica built for him. The Basilica, which rises above all of Assisi, is one of the largest Christian tombs and attracts countless pilgrims every year and is world famous for its frescoes. Assisi has retained its medieval character, with its narrow streets, houses, squares and numerous monuments. In the course of the afternoon we will visit the ancient capital of Umbria, Perugia, the city that rises high above the valley of the Tiber. This city has always been praised for its beautiful views. You can see the beautiful buildings here, such as the Dom San Lorenzo or the impressive Palazzo del Priori. At the end of the afternoon we are back in our hotel.

Sunday: Free day

Today there is nothing on the program and you can explore the surroundings of the hotel and the historic center of Chianciano Terme yourself. Chianciano Terme is a luxury spa town, with several thermal baths. In the center you will find the Monastero, a majestic castle, and the bell tower. The public gardens are lovely to stroll in.

Monday: Siena

Today we are going to enjoy the beautiful Tuscan hilly landscape, which is dotted with cypresses, olive trees and vineyards. Here is also the beautiful Siena. In this 'pearl of Tuscany' you will find one of the most beautiful squares in the world, the famous shell-shaped Piazza del Campo, which is the scene of the traditional horse race the Palio twice a year. The other pride of this medieval city is the Dom. We make a city walk through the winding streets, led by a guide, where you can enjoy the beautiful buildings and breathtaking views.
